051: Your Mitochondria & Biohacking with Dr. Jack Kruse

Cache
Mitochondria with a Neurosurgeon Co-Host:It's time to take it back and reconnect to nature. Remove ourselves from our devices and take care of one of the most important surface areas on our bodies. Our eyes. Opening our eyes to a whole new world is today's co-host, Dr. Jack Kruse (https://God.blue/forward.php?url=http://jackkruse.com) . Jack is a Neurosurgeon and an optimal health educator. Jack goes beyond Biohacking to Mito-hacking and looks at Mitochondria and health at a quantum perspective. This episode will give you a new found light of your surroundings. [youtube https://God.blue/forward.php?url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7SYSPlQa5eY] On This Mitochonria Episode You Will Hear:[spp-timestamp time="02:22"] How health works from a quantum perspective, utilizing light, water, and magnetism. What you will learn from Jacks blog is that food and exercise are not even critical components, there are things that are way more fundamental that drive the process. Jack started with the Quilt Document. He teaches us the power and essential necessity of health Mitochondria in our bodies. When Jack started the blog in 2011, he started with relatively simple things which let to him increasing the content in 2013. That's when people began really getting interested in what he was saying. Most people thought he was crazy when he started. Light, Water, and Magnetism are the three things that you need to link back to in your own life to understand where you are making the mistakes. [spp-timestamp time="06:13"] Jack has gone past Biohacking, he labels himself as a Mito-hacker to focus on the importance of our Mitochondria. Jack use's a car analogy to describe the difference between Biohacking and Mito-hacking. [spp-timestamp time="09:31"] Melatonin is made in your eyes first before your brain. [spp-timestamp time="11:36"] Jack is wearing blue light blocking glasses during the interview to protect his eyes and Mitochondria health. The four surfaces of the body that are important to protect are the eyes, skin, gut and lung surface. The single most important is your eyes. Your eyes drive all growth and metabolism pathways in the brain through the central retinal pathway. [spp-timestamp time="14:51"] We regenerate Melanopsin Receptors during the day when we are awake. [spp-timestamp time="19:25"] Every protein in your body is a hydrated semi-conductor. Albert Szent-Györgyi discovered this in the 1940's. The key to life is in an electron. [spp-timestamp time="23:10"] It took Jack years to implement the knowledge he acquired to finally connecting the dots. Diet and exercise was not working for Jack. He was getting bigger and decided to think about it differently. Jack to a trip to Italy to see Michelangelo's David. He looked up at him and that was the moment he realized the key was Circadian Biology. After a ton of research, Jack stood up in front of his family and said he was going to lose weight by eating more and exercising less, just by controlling his environment better. He done that for three months and he lost 77lbs. He continued on and in the first year, he lost 133lbs total. [spp-timestamp time="29:34"] If you want to improve your sleep, the number one thing you can do is go camping. When camping you are around trees that are making huge amounts of oxygen also you are around infra-red light from the fire, which also helps your mitochondria. Your mitochondria is destroyed by light frequencies. [spp-timestamp time="34:31"] Training indoors under blue light is counter intuitive to your workout. Blue light negatively impacts your Mitochondria and a whole lot more. [spp-timestamp time="35:40"] The retina in your eye lets about 1% of UV light through. It filters the light down as we need very little to run. [spp-timestamp time="40:00"] When Jack met Ruben Salinas and the Stanford glove [spp-timestamp time="45:32"] Grounding. We need that connection with nature. [spp-timestamp time="48:26"] Your environment is more important than the fuel

Water Scarcity Expert On Dune, Arrakis, Desert Planet

Cache

[Editor’s Note: This article is part of “Peer Review,” our commissioning project where research scientists write about topics in film. Dr. Andrew Bell is an Assistant Professor of Environmental Studies at NYU and an expert in water resource management. He writes about Frank Herbert’s science fiction book Dune, which is being newly adapted by Denis Villeneuve starring Timothee Chalament.]

Dune is being retold again, this time by director Denis Villeneuve, and the 14-year-old in me can’t wait for a 21st century CGI take on the iconic “sandworms” that could stretch a mile or more in length. How will Villeneuve tackle the “weirding way,” the hyper-speed martial art that hero Paul Atreides brought to the “Fremen,” Arrakis’ desert tribesmen?

In his 1984 film adaptation of Dune, David Lynch dropped it in favor of “weirding modules,” a sort of sonic hand cannon that let Lynch avoid having to film high-speed kung fu in the sand. It was a neat solution, but one that didn’t really fit Dune’s storyline because it abandoned a set of disciplines and trainings that were central in creating Paul—the savior figure. In the years since Lynch’s DUNE, the Matrix trilogy has solved the technical challenge of filming kung fu at any speed, so Villeneuve is left only with the narrative challenge of telling this part of the story: the religious and political Bene Gesserit order, their “prana-bindu” (nerve and muscle) training, and the weirding way. He has to do so within the span of a theatergoer’s attention, which it seems he will do by splitting the film into two.

There is so much that can be (and has been) said of Dune, since Frank Herbert’s book came out in 1965. It is a powerful allegory for trade in oil, drugs, and other scarce, rivalrous goods. It is also one of many white colonizer-savior stories, putting Paul Atreides in the company of Pocahontas’ John Smith, Dances With Wolves’ John Dunbar, and AVATAR’S Jake Sully. Dune reshaped science fiction (sci-fi), pioneered climate fiction (cli-fi), and first made it into film in 1977 as STAR WARS IV: A NEW HOPE (or, so it has been said). It is difficult to say something about Dune that hasn’t already been written masterfully by someone else across its half century of influence. I’ll try though, and focus on Dune as a tale in water governance.

That Dune is a story of water scarcity is obvious from its opening pages. Fremen cultural idioms draw on water to describe kinship (‘your water shall mingle with our water’) and respect (‘he sheds water for the dead’), while the Fremen “stillsuit” is a technology central to Dune’s water-scarce storyline. The stillsuit reclaims water lost through the body’s fluids, limiting losses to a few drops in a day, and helping to make water into a stock or an asset—something to be kept and maintained as a reserve (and not, as in much of our world, flushed or drained away). Treated in this way, water becomes almost a currency, or rather the commodity to back up a currency. Water is heavy and impractical to carry around, so Fremen instead use a system of rings, woven into kerchiefs, to represent their stored wealth—much like the ‘gold standard.’

Throughout our recorded history on Earth, the abundance of water similarly charted the paths of different societies and shaped their modes of governance. As told by Steven Solomon in his 2010 book Water: The Epic Struggle for Wealth, Power, and Civilization, the predictable flows of the Nile coupled with northward flow and southward winds allowing two-way navigation, gave rise to our earliest bureaucracies, managing the annual freshwater bounty. By contrast, water scarcity in the deserts of Bedouin cultures (from whom Frank Herbert borrowed extensively for his Fremen) gave rise to the importance of oases, the easily preserved fruits of date palms, and trade routes. The rise of government in the first case and of markets in the next helps to explain the emergence of two of the three pillars of modern governance (the third being civil society) explained by how wet it was.

In Dune, water turned out not to be scarce but rather tied up in a complicated sandtrout-sandworm-spice ecology that made it largely unavailable. What little water made its way to the atmosphere was carefully harvested and stored, with Fremen sietches concealing massive reservoirs of water, held in trust for the dream of a green, terraformed Arrakis.

The story of water on Earth isn’t too different. Most of Earth’s water is not available to humans. However, it is gravity and hydrology rather than ecology, which limit its accessibility. Energy from the sun is forever evaporating water from the earth’s surface, which then cools and falls back down, slowly rolling from wherever it lands down to the oceans where it sits, mixed with eons of salts and solids pulled on its journey from the land’s surface. We rely on the sun to lift water molecules out of that salty mix, providing us a steady stream of sweet, fresh water.

This freshwater supply isn’t under threat, and the popular term ‘water crisis’ is a bit of a misnomer. This hydrologic cycle doesn’t function any differently today than in our past, but there are more of us, and much of the water falls at times and places that can’t benefit us. Our cities are growing and we are ever more an urban species, but this expansion of our built environment is no longer coupled to or constrained by natural supplies of water as it once was. Instead, as water per person grows scarce, we are left with a few basic options to correct mismatches in the time and space of people and water. We can move water, we can store it, or we can find ways to demand less of it (Brian Richter is more expansive in describing options in his ‘water toolbox:’ desalination, reuse, importation, storage, watershed management, and water conservation.)

We have thousands of years of experience with the first two. The aqueducts that fed ancient Rome were progenitors for the modern transfer systems that make places like California and Arizona livable. And, through the 20th century, our network of transfer canals and storage reservoirs was large enough to shift the wobble of the Earth, just enough for a scientist to notice. However, there are problems with these technical, infrastructural solutions. Water is heavy, and expensive to move or hold. Also, when we change how it moves we often lose valuable services from it; flowing water will likely take on more oxygen—and host more fish—than water that sits; fast flows will scour landscapes while slower flows might silt them up. Perhaps most importantly, water infrastructure of this nature commonly displaces the people who had built a home along the flow. In short, these approaches at managing our water supply typically come with great cost.

Instead, we as a species are becoming more adept at regulating our water demand through management approaches including rules, rights, and valuation but with a few key flashpoints and tensions. First, while paying for water helps to communicate value, maintain infrastructure, and conserve use, it can feel at odds with the idea of an inalienable, basic human right to water. Making sure that basic human needs are met under privatized water systems is a challenge that was infamously unmet in Bolivia’s Cochabamba city in 2000. Second, though many of our cities have reservoirs that hold months to years worth of municipal water for use, we don’t have the well-bounded reserves of water that back up the Fremen rings in Dune. We rely on annual flows of water that are uncertain and variable, complicating our ability to plan, conserve, or trade. Our most prolific users of water—farmers and agriculture, drawing 70% of annual freshwater globally–are often those most exposed to this risk and uncertainty. Finding ways to limit their exposure with insurance, trading, or technology is a big part of keeping flows available beyond agriculture for industry, electricity, and municipalities.

Perhaps the biggest issue—the one that underlies all of our problems in conserving, valuing, and planning; the one that puts us at greatest odds with Dune’s Fremen—is that in most developed cities, our water supply is so good we don’t even pay attention to it. Do you know what you pay for water? How much you use? And where it came from? If you scored three out of three, you’re probably a Fremen. Otherwise, you’re like me and could learn something from them. Or, at least, from Frank Herbert’s Dune.

Inventing Tomorrow: Director Laura Nix

Environmental issues caused by climate change, industrial contamination, and toxic waste are some of the pressing global problems that face the world. Six high school students from Indonesia, Mexico, Hawaii, and India have conceived of different solutions to environmental issues in their respective countries, and are the subject of Laura Nix’s new documentary INVENTING TOMORROW. The students travel to the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair–the world’s largest high school science competition. INVENTING TOMORROW follows their journey to Los Angeles to compete and then home again.

INVENTING TOMORROW made its world premiere at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival. It was also part of the science program at CPH: DOX in Copenhagen, where Science & Film sat down with Laura Nix.

Science & Film: How did you find out about the Intel Science Fair?

Laura Nix: My producers brought the idea for the film to me. I didn’t know anything about it. I started researching the fair, and immediately fell in love with the kids. At the same time, I did not want to make a film that was in the competition genre. There are many documentaries that have been made about competitions, especially youth competitions, and I didn’t want to make that film. I said that I’d be more interested in making a film that focused on environmental impact because, when I met the kids, those were the stories that had the most impact on me.

A lot of those competition filmmakers just show up at the fair, see who wins, then go home with them and reverse it to look like it’s been filmed before. That’s why they end up with the winners. We didn’t do that. I was following the kids not because I thought they would win but because I believed in what they were doing.

S&F: Isn’t there another film, SCIENCE FAIR, about the same fair?

LN: I haven’t seen it. My understanding is it’s very much based on that competition genre and focused on that structure, and that’s one approach.

S&F: You said you were interested primarily in people whose projects were addressing environmental issues, is that right? Is there a reason you made that choice, aside from the fact that it’s the most important issue of our time?

LN: I went to the fair in 2016 and did some filming, and I met a number of kids who were working on issues related to the environment. I was compelled by what they were doing and the potential impact their projects could have. For example, I met these girls from Egypt where there is the threat of great water shortage; a lot the country’s drinking water comes from desalination plants, but desalination is incredibly energy inefficient, so the girls were trying to come up with an energy efficient model of desalination which could be a game changer.

S&F: Were you daunted by the scientific content of their projects?

LN: I don’t come from a scientific background but in some ways that’s helpful because it means I’m a proxy for the audience. So I was probably really annoying for the kids because I asked so many questions. I couldn’t let them rely on jargon. I think that’s a part of science communication which is another theme of the film–the importance of establishing a bridge and a dialogue between what scientists are doing and the general public.

The truth is that being a practitioner of the scientific method involves a lot of failure. I think that also mirrors life and that’s something you have to learn as you get older, that failure is part of the process.

S&F: There are some students you follow who are very advanced students, and some who are less so. Was that range important to you?

LN: I wanted that range. I wanted to show that this is a process. Each kid is taking on a project and they have to find their own way and work super hard. Some put up to 600 hours into their project before they end up at the fair. The process is so much about effort. I think that’s a true thing for many endeavors in life; you just have to keep at it.

S&F: How have high school students responded to the film so far?

LN: Those are the best screenings ever. We did ten screenings at Sundance and it was an amazing experience. People had a very emotional response to the film which was exciting because I wanted that. You hope it’s going to work for an audience in that way but I wasn’t sure. We did a screening in Park City for 600 high school students and they went totally bananas. They gave a standing ovation, they were cheering. Then the kids from the film came on stage, because we brought our whole cast to Sundance, and the crowd went totally nuts; they rushed the stage after the Q&A to get their autographs and pictures. The cast were like rock stars. I like that response, because one of my hopes was that students would be inspired because they see a parallel between their lives and the lives of the kids on screen. If it ends up encouraging kids to think science is an option, if it ends up encouraging kids just to work hard, and that working hard is cool, that’s great.

S&F: Who do you want to see this film?

LN: We have a lot of goals in terms of making such we get as many young people to see the film as possible. Educators, advocates for STEM education, etc. The response to the film has been that people really want other young people to see the film. STEM education is under attack right now in many parts of the country. We’re in this moment of total science denial and I’ve experienced that people are sometimes more apt to listen to what is happening if it comes from a child than if it comes from an adult. They believe the adult has been coopted somehow and that the child hasn’t. Which is right, that’s true, I’m not saying that the older scientists have been coopted, but the kids are telling it like it is.

S&F: So do you think people who are say science deniers would watch this film and that could affect how they see things?

LN: [shrugs]

S&F: Who knows, yeah. Fingers crossed.

LN: [laughs]

INVENTING TOMORROW is directed by Laura Nix. It is produced by Nix, Diane Becker, and Melanie Miller. The film will continue to play at festivals around the world in the coming months. In June, it will be at the Seattle International Film Festival, the Mendocino Film Festival, and at AFI DOCS.

Addicted to Pain: Black Mirror's "Black Museum"

Cache

Charlie Brooker was inspired by an unpublished short story by Penn Jillette about a man addicted to pain to write the season four finale of BLACK MIRROR. In the episode, “Black Museum,” a failing doctor (Daniel Lapaine) is convinced by a technology company to undergo an experimental treatment implanting a device in his brain that, with the assistance of a headset, allows him feel what is happening in another person’s body in his own. When they feel pain, he feels pain. That is, until the device malfunctions and he starts feeling pleasure when they feel pain, which leads unsurprisingly to a hapless outcome. In the real world, such a doctor exists. Dr. Joel Salinas is a neurologist at Harvard who was born with mirror-touch synesthesia. What he sees in someone else, his brain translates into a feeling in his own body.

Dr. Salinas describes a patient encounter in his book Mirror Touch: Notes from a Doctor Who Can Feel Your Pain, “my body mirrored her movements—her beads of sweat, her furrowed brow and grimace. This was a normal experience for me, but I noticed an unusual feeling in my chest that I couldn’t shake. My chest felt as though it was rising and falling much faster than my own body’s respiratory rate.” It turned out that the patient had a blood clot in her chest. “Without my mirror touch, I would have likely missed it,” Dr. Salinas continued. Of course, what Dr. Salinas is feeling is not actually what the other person feels but a rendering of it by his own brain. Empathy can be thought of as a person’s capacity to feel and understand the experience of another person; one theory about the impact of mirror-touch synesthesia is that it makes the person more readily empathic. However, the mirrored sensations can be so strong that one issue for Dr. Salinas, and others with mirror-touch synesthesia, can be maintaining that distinction between what they and another person are feeling. Dr. Alice Flaherty, a neurologist based at Harvard studying the neuroanatomy of empathy, spoke with Science & Film about the issue. “In the real world, the concept of empathy can be dangerous when empathic people think that they really do have direct access to people’s emotions," she said. "In fact, they’re often wrong. I know some very empathic people who sometimes just get it totally wrong."

Compassion is the desire to help another person in pain, whereas empathy is the capacity to feel that pain yourself. “I don’t want my doctor to feel my pain, I want him to help me,” Dr. Flaherty said. She offered that as a patient, she had an experience that stressed that distinction. “I had twins who died at birth and was gigantically sad. I remember thinking that I didn’t want my doctor to feel that. But I was upset because he wasn’t even saying that what happened was a bad thing. I didn’t want him to feel my pain, I wouldn’t do that to a dog! I just wanted him to acknowledge that something terrible had happened.” The doctor’s way of coping was to become rigid and unemotional. “I didn’t want him to cry, I only wanted him to say ‘What a terrible thing, you must be very sad.’ Why would I want him to say that, when everybody else was already saying it to me? I guess I wanted him to care enough to help me with my next pregnancy. But not to have my pain. It wouldn’t have done him any good. He would have become a hot mess like I was. I wanted him to have affect tolerance, so he could feel sad without falling apart.”

Affect tolerance, also called emotional regulation, is the ability to feel an emotion without acting on it by, say, leaving the room or crying. Without affect tolerance, doctors who constantly come into contact with people in pain often respond by shutting down all emotion. That indifference disconnects them from their patients’ needs. Affect tolerance can be learned, though it’s rarely taught in medical schools.

For more on empathy and the doctor-patient relationship, Science & Film spoke last year with filmmaker Corinne Botz whose short documentary BEDSIDE MANNER features Dr. Flaherty.

“Black Museum” is now streaming on Netflix. The episode is written by Charlie Brooker, and directed by Colm McCarthy (THE GIRL WITH ALL THE GIFTS). It stars Daniel Lapaine, Letitia Wright, and Douglas Hodge.

He explains to her that if she wants to keep her job, she must to submit to bondage through her lunch break. She believes she's been punished enough, but reluctantly submits. He ties her legs tightly together and ball gags her again. He rolls her over onto her belly, catches her wrists and ties them to her crotch rope behind her, and then pulls her up into a hogtie. He leaves her telling her he will be back for her after his lunch. Once again mortified that someone is going to walk in and find her, she struggles to free herself. Its no use. He has tied her up good and the only thing she is succeeding in doing is digging that crotch rope deeper into her aching pussy. After the lunch hour passes, her boss reappears. He unties her, but again leaves the crotch rope in place. He and sits her down on his lap and makes her promise not to steal from the company again. She looks at him with big apologetic eyes and says she has learned her lesson. He pulls her skirt down over the crotch rope. He tells her he is glad to hear that she is sorry, but that she must work the rest of the day with the crotch rope tied hidden under her skirt. Once again horrified she protests. She can see it showing plain as day from underneath. «Everyone will see it!» she pleads. «Well then you better sit at your desk and get some work done.» comes his answer. She stands, straightens the skirt as best as she can, and returns to her desk.

Regional Sports Editor

The Reno Gazette-Journal/rgj.compart of the USA TODAY NETWORK, is seeking a dynamic, metrics-informed newsroom leader to join its team of journalists serving Nevada's Biggest Little City - and directly supporting sports reporters at four other USA TODAY Network newsrooms in Utah and California: The (St. George) Spectrum, Redding Record Searchlight, Visalia Times-Delta and The (Salinas) Californian.

This newly created position will provide strategic leadership to at least six sports reporters in five newsrooms, including two direct reports in Reno, where the Nevada Wolf Pack's Division 1 teams are a local obsession.

You will be a leader in reinventing local high school and community sports coverage as we leave gamers in the rearview. We shouldn't be the first to tell you that a winning sports strategy is the No. 1 way to grow digital subscriptions - you should be all over that already and be eager to show us your plan for capitalizing on it.

You're not just a stat-head or a sports fan - although it's cool if you are. You must be a fan of sports fans and a fan of community residents throughout three western states who demand authoritative news delivered with a direct impact on their lives. Your knowledge of SEO and how readers come to consume our content will serve you better than your ability to explain OPS.

The Gazette Journal has long been a transformative force within the USA TODAY Network, and you'll bring that to our sports coverage. We aren't interested in talking about game coverage. However, talk to us about ranking everything, providing multimedia-rich coverage of athletes in action, insightful analysis of major trends and surprising insight into the people and forces influencing our local sports scene and you'll have our attention.

The Reno Gazette Journal is the leading news organization in Northern Nevada, focusing on journalism that aims to change lives and laws for the better. Its newsroom includes FAA-certified drone photographers, podcasters who've made nationally recognized shows and savvy public records hounds who consistently get results with their investigations. It's won countless awards over the years, from a Pulitzer Prize to many top nods from the Nevada Press Association. Recently, some of its biggest accolades include a Murrow Award and a finalist nod for the Knight Award for Public Service. It's been covering this part of the country for nearly 150 years.

Reno is part of a thriving metropolitan area that includes about 450,000 residents. While it's known first for its downtown casinos, Reno has emerged as one of the top destinations to live for people who love the outdoors thanks to the vicinity of Lake Tahoe, Pyramid Lake and the Sierra Nevada range. If skiing is your kind of thing, it takes about a half hour drive from downtown Reno to get on a chairlift. We're located about two hours from Sacramento and four hours from the Bay Area.

The Gazette Journal is a digitally oriented newsroom that demands excellence in multi-platform storytelling. Want to wow us? Go beyond the byline. Show us how you can bring your work to readers in real time and via the many multimedia tools at your disposal. Show us excellent communication skills mixed with an inquisitive mind and a bold use of diverse sources. If you can show us those traits, we'd love to win with you.

Responsibilities:

  • Own the strategy for five distinct communities' local sports coverage, supporting at least six reporters and building a loyal, passionate audience across the region.

  • Employ metrics, best practices and experimentation to grow both total audience and sports-driven digital subscriptions.

  • Directly lead the two-person Reno team's coverage of Wolf Pack athletics, high school and community sports, and trending sports news of northern Nevada interest.

  • Work select nights and weekends to support and provide real-time coverage of Reno-Sparks sporting events.

  • Work with the USA TODAY Network regional sports editor to surface local-to-national reporting to USA TODAY and across our network properties.

  • Coach reporters to independent planning and self-direction - before, during and after the creation of content - helping them shape ideas and tailor content specific to audience and platform.

  • Story/line edit most Gazette Journal sports content.

  • Consult and edit significant sports enterprise for the four smaller newsrooms.

  • Lead weekly and long-term planning of all five newsrooms' sports content and ensure reporters are fully engaged with the overall strategy.

  • Create detailed advance content plans and work schedules in collaboration with reporters.

  • Ensure budgets are updated in a timely fashion so anyone in the Network can see what the sports reporters have coming on a daily, weekly and ongoing basis.

  • Work with our regional content strategy team to provide daily, weekly and long-term digital metrics analysis for sports reporters in all five newsrooms.

  • Serve as a versatile and active member of the Gazette Journal newsroom leadership team.

  • Maintain close communication and coordination with regional executive editor based in Redding and with local editors in each newsroom.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor's or master's degree in communications, journalism, marketing or related field preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    • Five years of media management experience.

    • Command of media law and principles of ethical conduct.

    • Be an effective communicator; able to get along with diverse personalities.

    • Be passionate about (and skilled at) developing the careers and potential of your team members.

    • Experience with advanced storytelling techniques on multiple platforms.

    • Demonstrate ability to hold yourself and those around you accountable to shared goals.

    • Ability to apply innovative, creative thinking to support the company's goals.

    • Deep understanding of and curiosity about competition for our customer's time and money.

    • Experience editing and shaping watchdog and investigative journalism.

    • Exceptional planning and organizational skills.

    • Understanding use of metrics, social-media and SEO knowledge.

    • Self-motivation and self-direction.

    • Strong grasp of journalism skills (reporting and editing) and advanced knowledge of writing, spelling, grammar, AP and local style.

    • Able to multi-task and excel under intense deadline pressure in a rapidly changing environment.

    • Applies innovative, creative thinking to support the company's goals.

    • The ability to work collaboratively.

    • A 24-hour news environment often requires employees to work extended hours, evenings, weekends and holidays, sometimes unexpectedly.

      Application Instructions:

We are eager to learn more about you and how you fit this role. When you apply, don't limit your upload to a resume; show us what you've done. To do so, put together a single document file that includes the following, in this order:
