Three more first-round games today, including a matchup of eventual transfers, the triumphant return of a program stalwart, and a real kick in the groin. A quick reminder of the rules:
Woodbury over Hansen 15-9 (63-37)
GAME ONE: No. 4 Isaiah Moss vs. No. 13 Alex Thompson
We start with Isaiah Moss, the player who probably got the most debate in the committee room. After an initial redshirt, Moss started 96 games over three seasons, averaging nine points, two boards and 1.5 assists. But the averages never really told the story with Moss, arguably the most hot-and-cold player of the millennium. He scored 15 or more points 21 times, yet scored 4 or fewer (with double-digit minutes) THIRTY TIMES over the same stretch. The Isaiah Moss Experience was never painted as clearly as his 2019 explosion against Minnesota:
Alex Thompson was a kid from Ames that Steve Alford somehow convinced to come to Iowa. He started three games as a freshman, but mostly spent two seasons as the team's ninth man, grabbing a handful of minutes and averaging two points per contest. After the 2006 season, he transferred home to Iowa State, and did essentially the same thing for Greg McDermott.
GAME TWO: No. 8 Jarryd Cole vs. No. 9 Mike Henderson
Let the Ballad of Jarryd Cole be the soundtrack for the Lickliter years. Cole, a 6'7" forward out of Kansas City, had been recruited by Alford with offers from just about everyone in the area (Mizzou, Nebraska, Kansas State, Minnesota). At any point over the next four years, as Iowa plumbed new depths of ineptitude and despair, Cole could have called any of those former suitors and hit the road, and nobody would have blamed him. But Cole didn't do that. He stuck around, playing through the first McCaffery year, as a three-year starter and Matt Gatens running partner. At least Gatens got that NIT season at the end; all Cole got was trip to Iceland.
Mike Henderson, a guard from Waterloo, started all 34 games for the last Iowa team to win the Big Ten Tournament. He averaged 8 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists for that squad, and was a staunch perimeter defender. But his role diminished in his senior season (he started just eleven games), along with his shooting percentage, and his graduation was overshadowed by Alford's exit. Brunner, Horner and Haluska got the plaudits for the 2005-06 campaign, but Henderson and Hansen were essential to the all-defense all-the-time ethos of that squad.
GAME THREE: No. 2 Peter Jok vs. No. 15 Cully Payne
We've already discussed the legacy of Peter Jok, a Sudanese refugee-turned all-world recruit-turned recruiting afterthought-turned immature kid-turned Big Ten scoring leader. But in case you forgot: Dude could really fill it up.
Cully Payne, a 6'1" guard out of suburban Chicago, had committed to two other schools before landing with Lickliter in 2009. He started all 37 games of his time in Iowa City and led all Big Ten freshmen with 4 assists per game in his first season, but he suffered through an injury-plagued sophomore year, in which he was only able to play five games, and transferred out when Lickliter was fired. Payne finished out his senior season at Loyola Chicago. As a Hawkeye, he averaged 8 points, 4 assists and 3 rebounds a game.

In this episode, before getting into recent events, we highlight the devotion to the tears and dolors of the Blessed Virgin, listing the amazing promises made to those who practice and spread this devotion. And, of course, we cover the continuing contagion of the Corona Cold-demic and the irrational hysteria being hyped by the media and bought hook, line, and sinker by average people, priests, and even bishops. Without doubt, this is a minor chastisement from God and we're witnessing, in staggering fashion, how fast the charity of men grows cold. If you want to remain faithful during this Passion of the Church then increase your Devotion To Mary so that, like Saint John, we will remain steadfast with Jesus and Mary until the end.

We were so lucky to find Ashe Splashe! We got to meet hosts Jane and Carey on our 2016 trip to Key West, so we know where wed be staying in 2017. They were wonderfully communicative throughout the year, working with us on dates and keeping us updated when Hurricane Irma blew through the Florida Keys.

The property has plenty of square footage to make yourself at home. It gives you a great sense of Key West with the decor and is clean. There were plenty of towels and amenities and it is within a mile walk of almost anywhere you need/want to be on the island. We were extremely happy with the home and the rental company. We were able to email or call both if we have any problems at all during our stay.

Ashe-Splash is a wonderful home. The history in the family which is displayed in the home and the furnishings are both very unique. The home is extremely comfortable and very upscale, however keeping in tune with a definite Key West Dcor. My daughters and I enjoyed the large relaxing porches. If anyone is looking for a true Key West experience, you will find it in this beautiful home. It was a very easy walk to both the Seaport and Duval Street! We highly recommend this home, and wish to return again.
